What does a 'hallmark' mean?

A hallmark, is a mark or stamp that indicates the authenticity, purity, and quality of the metal. It serves as a guarantee of quality for consumers and helps establish trust in the marketplace.

Typically, a hallmark consists of specific symbols, letters, numbers, or a combination thereof, which are imprinted on the metal surface. These markings convey important information about the metal's composition and origin.

In the case of gold, a hallmark verifies the gold content and purity of the item. Gold purity is measured in carat. As the carat value decreases, the percentage of gold contained in the piece decreases accordingly, with the remaining portion usually consisting of alloyed metals such as silver or copper.

Our collection is mainly comprised of pieces which are 9 carat gold, this means that 37.5% is gold (Au), this is why most of the pieces will be stamped 375. Other stamps you may see are 585, which relates to 15 carat gold, 750 which relates to 18 carat gold. By being solid gold this means these pieces can be worn and enjoyed without worry and stand the test of time!
